Object of a Preposition


Preposition
Preposition define the relationship between nouns, pronouns, or nouns and pronouns. In fact, a useful way to introduce to the class the idea of prepositions is to talk about an object. Explain that preposition usually show up in sentences as parts of phrases, prepositional phrases, which include a preposition, an object of the preposition (a noun of pronoun that comes after the preposition), and articles or descriptives that come in between. Examples of Preposition; in, at, of, to, by, behind, on, with, etc.

Object of a Preposition


One of the partners of the preposition−it is usually noun or a pronoun and always follows the preposition.

(Mike merupakan kata benda bukanlah sebuah subjek tetapi merupakan object of a preposition To, sedangkan verbnya adalah was. Oleh karena itu, kalimat itu memerlukan sebuah subject sehinnga jawabannya “d” yaitu The Party).

(In the bus merupakan object of preposition dan sang merupakan verb. Maka, diperlukan subject sehingga jawabannya “d” yaitu She).

(The Interview merupakan subject dari kalimat tersebut, by the radio characters merupakan object of a preposition dan juga terdapat verb carried. Dikarenakan subject dari kalimat ini adalah singular maka memerlukan singular extra verb. Maka jawabannya adalah “a” yaitu Was).

6.        At 1:00 in the morning the alarm clock on the table beside the bed rang.

7.        The dog ran beside our car.

8.        Lecturers leave the class after their teaching time is over.
